Made with premium epoxy resin and an advanced organic solvent system, this paint is specifically formulated to deliver exceptional resistance against seawater, salt spray, chemicals, and cathodic disbonding. As a leading manufacturer in China, we take pride in supplying top-quality coatings that significantly enhance the service life of marine structures. Trust our factory to provide you with reliable solutions for all your ballast tank protection needs

    Product Features
    • ✓ Excellent corrosion resistance, capable of resisting the erosion of harsh marine environments such as seawater, salt spray, and humidity for a long time.
    • ✓ Excellent adhesion, with extremely strong adhesion to steel plates after sandblasting treatment (such as Sa2.5 grade).
    • ✓ Good resistance to cathodic disbonding, compatible with ship cathodic protection systems, and less prone to blistering or spalling due to electrochemical effects.
    • ✓ High-solids, low-VOC (for some products) — although solvent-based, the formula tends to be high-solids to reduce volatile organic compound emissions.
    • ✓ Wear-resistant and impact-resistant, capable of withstanding water flow scouring and mechanical stress during the loading/unloading process.
    Recommended Use
🚢 Used for internal corrosion protection of conventional ship ballast tanks, it offers excellent cost-performance ratio.

    Application
    🔧 Construction Method
    • Airless spraying
    • Nozzle pressure: 14 MPa – 21 MPa
    • Nozzle hole diameter: 0.6 mm – 0.8 mm
    • If spraying work is terminated, the spraying equipment should be cleaned immediately to prevent paint from remaining in the hose, spray gun or spraying equipment, thereby avoiding the solidification of residual paint inside the spraying equipment.
🛠️ Surface Treatment & Construction Conditions
    • Remove oil, grease and other contaminants with a suitable cleaning agent.
    • High-pressure water cleaning removes salt, detergents and other contaminants.
    • Repair and maintenance surface treatment to P3 (ISO 8501-3).
    • Remove dust, sand and loose materials.
    • Surface condition (G) (ISO 8503-2).
    • During construction and curing, the surface temperature of the substrate must be properly maintained.
    • To avoid condensation, the substrate temperature during construction should be at least 3°C [5°F] higher than the dew point.
    • During construction, the product temperature must be above 15°C [59°F].
    • The relative humidity during construction and curing processes must be less than 85%.

    Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Q What makes this coating suitable for ship ballast tanks?
This coating provides excellent corrosion resistance against seawater, salt spray, and humidity. It also offers strong adhesion to sandblasted steel surfaces, good resistance to cathodic disbonding, and the ability to withstand mechanical stress — all of which are critical requirements for ballast tank environments.
Q What surface preparation is required before applying this coating?
The substrate should be free of oil, grease, salt, dust, and loose materials. Surface treatment should meet P3 standard (ISO 8501-3), with a surface roughness condition of (G) per ISO 8503-2. Sandblasting to Sa2.5 grade is recommended for optimal adhesion.
Q What are the recommended application conditions for this product?
The product temperature must be above 15°C [59°F] during application. The substrate temperature should be at least 3°C [5°F] above the dew point to avoid condensation, and relative humidity must remain below 85% throughout both construction and curing.
Q How long does this coating take to dry and what is the recoating window?
At 20°C, the coating is dry to touch within 4 hours and fully dry within 24 hours. The minimum recoating interval is 24 hours and the maximum is 30 days. Potlife at 20°C is 4 hours after mixing.
Q What is the correct mixing ratio for this two-component coating?
The coating should be mixed at a volume ratio of 2.5 : 1 (main agent : curing agent). It is important to mix only the quantity that can be used within the potlife of 4 hours at 20°C to avoid waste or hardening in the equipment.
Q How should the spraying equipment be maintained after use?
If spraying work is paused or terminated, all equipment — including hoses, spray guns, and spray units — must be cleaned immediately. Failure to do so may cause residual paint to solidify inside the equipment, resulting in blockages or equipment damage.
